230$;

Jesus. I feel like I just ripped Musician's Friend off big-time.

I saw this guitar I wanted, and it said "COMES WITH A FREE GIFT!"
The guitar was only 250 already (these Silver Creek guitars are awesome, the top and sides are made out of solid woods; the internet guitar community is freakin' out about 'em.)
So, I look on the google magic machine for MF coupons, and I find this one that gives you 35$ off any 250$+ order. so I start freaking out; not only am I gonna get a brand new guitar, a free gift (which turns out to be a 170$ hard shell case) BUT it's gonna be 35$ cheaper.
So, since the guitar itself is 249.99, I put two backs of bouzouki strings and some 3 dollar mandolin strings in my virtual cart, and off I go to check out.

Grand total; 235.33$

All that for an awesome, auditorium style-body guitar with solid woods, a deluxe hardshell case, and new strings for 2 instruments.

I feel awesome :3

Rubberfest

Well, Rubberfest was a success.

Pictured above is Sycamore Smith, my favorite act of the night. Some guy I forgot the name of played before him, and he was only okay. After Sycamore, Grounded played, and I really only think they are okay. I don't feel like Shad and Kevin sing with enough emotion, but they are still pretty good. Then some more people played, and the last act was Sycamore's second set.

I bought his CD called "Baboon," it's pretty good. His stage presence is awesome. He uses his jumbo acoustic guitar, sings songs about not-so-smart people (or animals), imitates a woodblock noise with his mouth at the perfect times, and plays a kazoo festooned to one of those Harmonica holders...

Escanaba needs more stuff like Rubberfest...

I wanna be in the next rubberfest :<

(iwerk)

Heheh..

Today, (weewerk) Records sent me a message on my music MySpace. They are a decent sized indie record label and wanted to know if I had a demo CD available that I could send them :D

Well, I don't have a demo up and ready yet, but I'm about 5 (good) original songs away from having one!

They were impressed with the fact I only use one microphone, the Program Audacity, record about 4 songs a week, and already have my own t-shirt design.

I'm so excited to see where this goes :D

Anyways, here's a link to my solo recording myspace; http://www.myspace.com/sumithegoatthetokyoexpress

Also, the band on my top friends, "Running an Extra Mile" is me and a couple friends. I'm teaching them how to play instruments :D
